Ho-Legacy

Darryle:  "You know Monica Lewinsky's mom was a hoe right?  She slept with one of the 3 tenors."

Me:  "Shut up!  Are you serious??"

Darryle:  "Oh yeah!  She's comes from a hoe legacy!"

Shall I Catch U Next Tuesday?

Every day there is a new adventure at work.  I don't know what I'm going to get until I get there.  Sometimes it's funny.  Sometimes it's serious, and sometimes it's...well you tell me:

Chris:  "What conference room is the training in?"

Venus:  "Tetris.  Now hurry up queen!  We already late!"

Chris:  "OK!  What do I need to bring??"

Venus:  "For the THIRD time, your access card and the notes from yesterday queen!"

Chris:  "OK!!  You don't have to be all cunty about it!!"

Venus:  "What you say Chris??"

Chris:  "Huh?"

The "40 something-year-old twink"

Guess what??  I'm baaaaaaack!!

After a year hiatus, I have returned to throw shade and keep it real!  For those of you that know me well...LaJuan will be throwing shade also.

I recently slimmed back down to my goal weight.  Actually, I lost more weight than I wanted but that's ok.  MORE cheat days for me!

I started showcasing my new and improved 6'1" frame by wearing clothing that shows off my new shape.

Let me back it up a few.......

I started a new job in May at a young company downtown Chicago in the Loop area.  I love the Loop.  It's very fast-paced, and there is a LOT to see, and sometimes some things you don't want to see.

Anyway, back to my new job.  It's in a call center environment (Imagine that).  It's for a company that was founded in 2004.  I landed a gig as a call center manager.  I love it so far.  It's very diverse, however there is one thing that is standing out to me there.  There are TONS of 20 something people that work there.  Yup!  Millenials!  They are very liberal and laid back, however they don't know the old-school way of doing things in a call center.

My management style:  I'm pretty laid back.  I made sure all of my direct reports know how to do their job and know how to do it well.  I am by no means a babysitter.  They know my expectations, and know how to execute them.

Now, with that being said....we shall begin!

I woke up this morning hopped in the shower and got dresses.  I wore a form-fitting polo shirt, and pair of nice-fitting jeans from EXPRESS and my Kenneth Cole shoes.  I get to the office at 11:15am, my team trickles in and we start our workday at 11:30am.

Now, I have a team of VERY outspoken individuals.  Most of them women, one gay man, and the token straight guy.  They have an urban attitude; which is very entertaining on a daily basis.  When I came on board in May I was given the closing shift, and I was warned that my team was an "interesting" bunch.  Some other managers referred to them as "THOT's". For those of you that don't know what a "THOT" is.....well, if you reference urban dictionary it means That Hoe Over There.

So being at this job for a month I have earned the respect of my team.  I'm pretty laid back, however I CAN put the smack down when needed.  Today was an interesting day because I have some very outspoken people on my team; and I do encourage it.  Well, I'll just hop right into it.

Me:  "Alanis, I did get a chance to listen to the call that QA scored from Sunday.  They are right with the 70%."

Alanis:  "Well, I don't agree I wanna dispute that shit.  You gonna put the dispute through or not??"

Me:  "No, if you check your resources you can see what the procedure is for quoting payoff information."

Alanis:  "Well that's bullshit."

Me:  "It is what it is."

Alanis:  "Ugh!"

Me:  "I know it's a tough pill to swallow Alanis, but you will recover.  I believe in you!"

Alanis:  "Stop with the cheerleading already you tired-ass Queen."

Me:  "Girl....That is your FREE one for the day."

Now,  I am a call center VETRAN.  I have been doing this since I was 23.  I have been on the front line before.  I have managed teams in small and large call centers and I had done QA.  I know how it feels to get a shitty QA score.  You power through, and keep it pushing.  So it wasn't like I wasn't showing empathy, it's just one of those things.  It's the nature of the beast. So, later in the day Alanis gets into it with another team member:

Alanis:  "Look!  I have told you three fucking times how to do this shit!!  Are you fucking retarded??"

Vanessa:  "I know but I just don't get it yet!"

Alanis:  "Girl!  Come on now!  Are you serious??"

Me:  "Alanis!  Take it easy!  Not everyone learns the way that you do.  Break it down for her and make it simple."

Alanis:  "I'm trying to but this bitch is STUPID!"

Me:  "Alanis, come with me for a minute."

I took Alanis into a conference room and explains professionalism to her, and that she can't just call people stupid....in a very stern way.

So, as the evening progressed Alanis was making some pretty passive-agressive comments to me and it was starting to get on my nerves.  People that know my the best KNOW that I don't do very well with that:

Me:  "Alanis!  Don't make me come over there!!!!"

Alanis:  "Shut up you old twink!"

Me:  "Excuse me??"

Alanis:  "huh?"
